Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

These rules for authors have been drawn up taking into account the requirements of GOST R 7.0.7–2021 “System of standards for information, librarianship and publishing. Articles in journals and collections. Publishing Design".

Articles sent to the «Pozharovzryvobezopasnost/Fire and Explosion Safety» journal should contain the research and tests results, descriptions of new technical devices and software products; reviews, comments on normative and technical documents, reference materials, etc. Authors should indicate what type their article refers to scientific and theoretical article; analytical (review) article; discussion article; book review, article review, etc., report.

The journal accepts articles in the following fields of science / groups of specialties according to the Nomenclature of the Higher Attestation Commission of scientific specialties for which academic degrees are awarded: 2.1.1. — Building structures (Engineering sciences); 2.1.5. — Building materials and products (Engineering sciences); 2.1.15. — Safety of construction objects (Engineering sciences); 2.3.1. — System analysis, information management and processing, statistics (Engineering sciences, Physical and Mathematical sciences); 2.3.3. — Automation and management of technological processes and industries (Engineering sciences); 2.3.4. — Management in organizational systems (Engineering sciences); 2.3.7. — Computer modeling and design automation (Engineering sciences, Physical and Mathematical sciences); 2.6.17. — Material science (Engineering sciences, Physical and Mathematical sciences, Chemical sciences).

It is not allowed to send to the editors those works that have been published and/or accepted for publication in other publications.

The editors ask the authors to follow the instructions set forth below when preparing the manuscript.

1. The article and accompanying materials should be sent to the electronic editorial office at info@fire-smi.ru.

The article should be clearly and concisely stated and signed by all the authors (scan copy of the page with signatures). The main text of the article should contain clear, logically interconnected sections. All the sections should begin with the bold headings such as below. The following sections are traditional for a scientific article:

• introduction;
• materials and methods (methodology) — for a scientific and empirical article;
• theoretical foundations (theory and calculations) — for a scientific and theoretical article;
• results and their discussion;
• conclusion (findings).

The editors also allow a different structure, due to the specifics of a particular article (analytical (review), discussion, advertising one), provided that the sections are clearly distinguished:

• introduction;
• main (analytical) part;
• conclusion (findings).

The sections above should contain the following information.

1.1. Introduction. A brief overview of the state of the problem under consideration with links to the most significant publications, its relevance, justification for the need to carry out the study. Formulation of the goals and objectives of this article.

1.2. Materials and methods (methodology). A detailed presentation of the research methods (methodologies) used in the work, equipment, experimental conditions, etc. It is possible to indicate references to works with a more detailed description of the methods, however, the description given should be sufficient for a general understanding of the research progress. It is also necessary to give quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the materials used. Avoid adding experimental results to this section.

1.3. Theoretical foundations (theory and calculations). The Theory section should not duplicate the information given in the Introduction. It should contain extended information that has become the basis for further research given in the article. The section "Calculations" should be a practical implementation of the theoretical material presented in the previous sections.

1.4. Results and their discussion. The results should be presented in a logical sequence, reflecting the data of the study described above, without reference to literary sources. The results are shown clearly, in the form of short descriptions with references to graphs, tables and figures. It is necessary to highlight new and important aspects based on the results of the author's research, to analyze possible mechanisms or interpret the results obtained. If possible, compare your own results with those of other researchers.

1.5. Conclusion (findings). A brief presentation of the main results of the work done and the opinion of the authors on the significance of the data obtained, reasonable recommendations for their use.

2. The material of the article should be presented in the following order.

2.1. UDC number (universal decimal classification).

2.2. The title of the article (in Russian and English). The titles of scientific articles should be accurate and concise and at the same time sufficiently informative; only conventional abbreviations can be used here. In translating the titles of articles into English, transliteration from Russian is not allowed, except for untranslatable names of proper names, instruments and other objects that have their own names, as well as untranslatable slang known only to Russian-speaking specialists. This also applies to abstracts, abstracts and keywords.

2.3. Information about the authors.

2.3.1. Names, patronymics and last names of all the authors. It must be given in full in Russian and in transliterated form in Latin according to GOST 7.79 or in the form in which the author has established it.

The authors are persons who participated in all of the work or in its main sections. Those persons who partially participated in the work are indicated in footnotes.

2.3.2. Academic degrees, titles, position, place of work of all the authors with indicating full legal address (in Russian and English). Here it is necessary to indicate: the full official name of the organization and division, country, postal code, city, street name, house number, as well as contact phones and email addresses of all authors; provide contact information. Please note that when translating it is necessary to indicate the officially accepted name of the organization in English. All postal information (except for the street name, which must be in transliterated form) must also be translated into English, including the name of the city and country.

Example: Institute for Problem in Mechanics, Russian Academy of Sciences (Vernadskogo Avenue, 101, Moscow, 119526, Russian Federation).

2.3.3. ORCID, Researcher ID, Author ID (Scopus).

2.4. Extended resume (in Russian and English). It should be borne in mind that the author's abstract in English in the Russian edition is the main and, as a rule, the only source of information for foreign scientists and specialists about the content of the article and the results of the research presented in it. Therefore, the author's resume should be:

• informative (not containing common words);
• rich in content (it should reflect significant results of the work; it should not include material that is not available in the main part of the publication);
• structured (i.e., it should follow the logic of describing the results);
• literate (written in the high-quality English language without using automated translation programs);
• with the wordage of about 200–250 words.

The structure of the resume should repeat the structure of the article and include clearly marked sections Introduction, Aims and Purposes, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions.

The results of the work should be described as accurately and informatively as possible. In this case, the main theoretical and experimental results, actual data, established relationships and patterns should be given.

Conclusions may be accompanied by recommendations, assessments, suggestions, hypotheses described in the work.

The text must be coherent; the statements made should flow logically from one another.

Abbreviations and symbols, except for commonly used ones, should be used in exceptional cases or they should be deciphered and defined at the first mention in the resume text.

The author's resume should not include diagrams, tables, illustrations, formulas, as well as links to publications listed in the bibliography for the article.

To improve the effectiveness of online search, include keywords and terms from the main text and the title of the article in the abstract text.

2.5. Keywords in Russian and English (at least 5 words or short (2-3 words) phrases). They are indicated by a semicolon. It is unacceptable to use general terms (for example, problem, solution, etc.) as keywords that are not a special feature of a publication. The words and terms used in the title do not need to be repeated as keywords: keywords should complement the information in the title. When translating keywords into English, avoid, if it is possible, the use of the union “and” , “of” (a preposition indicating ownership), articles “a”, “the”, etc.

2.6. Words of gratitude to organizations (institutions), supervisors and other persons who assisted in the preparation of the article, information about grants, funding for the preparation and publication of the article, projects, research work, within or as a result of which the article was published. This information is given in Russian and English with the preceding word "Acknowledgments".

2.7. The main text of the article should be typed in Word format. Formulas should be typed in Microsoft Equation or MathType.

The text quoted verbatim from other publications should be put in quotation marks, at the end of the quotation it is obligatory to give a link to the original source and include it in the list of references. Tables, formulas, figures, methods, numerical data (with the exception of well-known values) published earlier must also be accompanied by references.

Indirect quoting should be formatted in such a way that it is clear to the reader who owns the source text, where the speech of the author of the article ends and the retelling of someone else's idea begins (before the quoted fragment, the full name of the author of the quotation, or the surname and initials, as well as the word denoting the statement (says , writes, claims, etc.); after the quoted text there is a reference to the source (in square or round brackets)).

The same rules should be followed when self-citing - the reuse by the author of his own texts from earlier publications, to the extent justified by the purpose of citing (the recommended share of self-citing is no more than 15%).

Abbreviations and conventions of physical quantities in the text of the article should comply with applicable international standards. Formulas and letters should be clear and concise. All the letters in the formulas should be decrypted with the indication of units of measurement. The dimension of all characteristics shall comply with the SI system of units.

Illustrations in electronic version are attached separately. Photos should be printed from the good negative with contrasting printing (bitmap files are provided with a resolution of at least 300 dpi, black and white line-art image — 600 dpi). Vector image files should be provided in the format of the program in which they are created, or should be printed in a PDF format by means of this program. All the illustrations should be numbered consecutively. Drawings and maps are not acceptable as illustrations. References to all figures in the text are obligatory.

Tables should be concise and contain only the necessary information; tables of the same type should be built in the same way. Numerical data must be rounded in accordance with the accuracy of the experiment. Information in tables and figures should not be repeated. References to all tables in the text are required.

The journal provides for a bilingual presentation of tabular and graphic material, so you need to send a translation into English:

• for a table: its title, header, sidebar, text in all lines, footnotes and notes;
• for a figure: a caption and all text inscriptions on the figure itself;
• for a scheme: a caption to it and the entire content of the scheme itself.

2.8. Reference lists of sources in Russian and in the original language (if the book is translated).

The list of references should include bibliographic information about all the publications mentioned in the article, and should not contain references to works to which there are no references. The literature should be in the form of a general list in the order of reference. In the text, the reference to the literature is marked with an ordinal number in square brackets, for example [1]. Bibliographic data are given on the title page of the publication. The order of presentation of the elements of the bibliographic description is determined by the requirements of GOST R 7.0.5.

All the authors should be indicated in the description of the sources.

Along with this, the list of references for scientific articles should meet the following requirements.

The list of references should contain at least 20 sources. At the same time, it should not include links to textbooks, manuals, patents, GOSTs, orders, instructions and other regulatory documents, company websites, etc. Information about them should be given directly in the text or in footnotes. If the article deals with the problems of standardization, then normative documents may be included in the References. At the same time, the number of references to articles from foreign scientific journals and other foreign sources should be at least 40% of the total number of references. No more than half of the remaining 60% should be articles from Russian-language scientific journals, the rest - other primary sources in Russian. The fulfillment of this requirement will indicate that the authors use previous scientific achievements to the extent necessary.

At least half of the sources must be included in one of the leading citation indexes: Russian Science Citation Index eLibrary, Web of Science, Scopus, Chemical Abstracts, MathSciNet, Springer, etc. If a digital object identifier (DOI) is assigned to publications, it must be indicated that will allow you to uniquely identify the object in databases (the site http://www.crossref.org/ will help you search for DOI).

The composition of the sources should be relevant and contain at least half of up-to-date (not older than 7 years) articles from scientific journals or other publications.

The list of references should contain no more than 30 % of sources, the author or co-author of which the author of the article is.

Attention should be paid to the publication of dissertations (especially doctoral dissertations) defended in recent years in the nearest scientific specialty or group of specialties. For search it is recommended to use the resource http://www.dissercat.com.

Make sure that the information indicated in the list of references (name of the author, title of the book or journal, year of publication, volume, number and number (interval) of pages) is correct.

Unpublished results, draft papers, personal communications, etc. should not be listed in references, but they may be mentioned in the text.

2.9. References (lists of references in Latin and English). Representation in References of only a transliterated (without translation) description is unacceptable. Please note that the translation of the title of articles should be given as it was when they were published, and the translation of journal titles should be officially accepted. Arbitrary abbreviation of the names of citation sources will make it impossible to identify the reference in electronic databases.

When compiling References, it is necessary to follow the scheme corresponding to the chosen style of designing the list of bibliographic references beyond the text, adopted in foreign publications: Harvard. Vancouver, Chicago. ACS (American Chemical Society), AMS (American Mathematical Society), APA (American Psychological Association), etc.:

• Full name of the authors (transliteration; to write it, use the site http://fotosav.ru/services/transliteration.aspx, be sure to enable the checkbox "American (for US visa)" in the settings at the top right); if the author of the cited article has his own version of the transliteration of his last name , you should use this option);
• title in English - for the article, transliteration and translation of the title - for the book;
• the name of the source (journal, collection of articles, conference materials, etc.) in transliteration and in English (in italics, through a slash);
• publisher's imprint;
• an indication of the language of presentation of the material in brackets (for example, (in Russian)).

For example: D. N. Sokolov, L. P. Vogman, V. A. Zuykov. Microbiological spontaneous ignition. Pozharnaya bezopasnost / Fire Safety, 2012, no. 1, pp. 35–48 (in Russian).

2.10. Information about the contribution of each author, if the article has several authors, in Russian and English. This statement is preceded by the words "Contribution of the authors:". After the author's surname and initials, his personal contribution to the writing of the article is briefly described (idea, collection of material, processing of the material, writing the article, scientific editing of the text, etc.).

2.11. Information about the absence or presence of a conflict of interest and details of such a conflict, if any conflict exists, in Russian and English.

3. Articles, which are not presented in full, will not be accepted.

4. In case of comments during the internal review of the article, the authors shall provide a revised version of the text within a period of not more than one month with the obligatory highlighting of the changes introduced, as well as they shall separately prepare specific annotations to all the reviewer’s questions and comments.

Delayed, as well as inadequate response to the comments of reviewers and scientific editors causes delaying the publication until the elimination of these shortcomings. If the comments of reviewers and scientific editors are ignored, the manuscript shall be excluded from the further consideration.

5. The articles, which are not accepted for publication, will not be returned to the author. A request from the editors for revising the material does not imply that it has been accepted for publication.

The editors reserve the right to assume that the authors, who presented the manuscript for publication in the «Pozharovzryvobezopasnost/Fire and Explosion Safety» journal, agree to the terms of the publication or rejection of the manuscript, as well as to the registration rules thereof.

1. The authors shall reserve the copyright to the piece of work and give the journal the right to publish it for the first time under Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows other persons to distribute this piece of work with the obligatory preservation of references to the authors of the original work, as well as to the original publication in the «Pozharovzryvobezopasnost/Fire and Explosion Safety» journal.
2. The authors retain the right to enter into a separate contractual agreement dealing with a non-exclusive distribution of a work version as it published here (for example posting it in an institutional repository, its publications in a book), with reference to its original publication in the «Pozharovzryvobezopasnost/Fire and Explosion Safety» journal.
3. Authors have the right to post their piece of work on the Internet (for example, in an institutional repository or on their personal website) prior to and during the process of its consideration by editors of the «Pozharovzryvobezopasnost/Fire and Explosion Safety» journal, as it can contribute to a productive discussion and generate a better citation impact for this piece of work (see The Effect of Open Access).

The names and email addresses mentioned on the «Pozharovzryvobezopasnost/Fire and Explosion Safety» journal website will be used solely for the purposes specified by the journal and will not be used for any other purpose or made available to other persons or organizations.
